F1 Grid IQ — F1 Fantasy Optimizer

The best F1 Fantasy squad your budget allows — picked for you, transfer by transfer.

Picking a strong F1 Fantasy team isn't just "who's fastest this weekend." It's a constrained problem: five drivers and two constructors, a hard budget cap, a limited number of free transfers, and five chips (Wildcard, Limitless, Extra DRS, No Negative, Autopilot) that only pay off if you time them right. F1 Grid IQ's optimizer works through that whole problem for you, not just one piece of it.

Race predictions and rankings are free to read. Your own optimized squad, transfer advice and the League Optimizer are F1 Grid IQ Premium, $5/month or $35/year: see plans.

How it picks your team

Starting from projected fantasy points for every driver and constructor, the optimizer weighs those projections against price and your remaining budget to find the squad combination with the best expected return — not simply the highest-projected names, but the ones actually worth their cost. See the full field ranked this way on the driver and constructor rankings page.

Transfers and chip timing

F1 Fantasy penalizes extra transfers, so the optimizer also considers when to make a move, not just which one — factoring in how many free transfers you have and whether a chip makes a bigger move worth it this week versus saving it for later.

Budget matters in steps, not in a straight line. For a look back at how transfers, chips and budget growth traded off over a real season, see our hindsight analysis of the best 2026 season strategy and budget growth and what an extra $1M of budget is actually worth.

League Optimizer

Beating a specific rival isn't the same problem as maximizing your own score in isolation. For players who track a real league, F1 Grid IQ's League Optimizer looks at what your rivals are likely to do and recommends moves aimed at improving your actual win probability against them — not just a generic, opponent-blind optimum.

Common questions

What does an F1 Fantasy optimizer do?

It picks the squad with the best expected return under the game's real limits: five drivers and two constructors, a budget cap, a limited number of free transfers and five chips. A list of projected points ranks players one by one; an optimizer decides which combination you can actually afford and which transfer is worth making.

How is an optimizer different from F1 Fantasy projections or rankings?

Projections and rankings tell you how each driver or constructor is expected to score. They do not account for your budget, your current team or the cost of an extra transfer. The optimizer takes the same projections and solves for the best team given those constraints.

Where do the projections behind the optimizer come from?

F1 Grid IQ combines public betting-market odds with F1's own published data, then runs probabilistic race simulations instead of picking a single finishing order. Simulations are re-run after practice and qualifying. Read how that works on the predictions page.

How do I know the recommendations are any good?

We publish how every graded race turned out, including the ones we lost, on the model accuracy page, and compare ourselves with other tools under one fixed method on the best F1 Fantasy tools page.

Is the F1 Fantasy optimizer free?

Race predictions, rankings and the public accuracy record are free. Your own optimized squad, the League Optimizer and personalized transfer advice are part of F1 Grid IQ Premium: $5/month or $35/year.
